Essential Oil Ice Cubes

Ice cubes are a rather unappreciated bit of history. In the early nineteenth century before there were even ice trays, wealthy people had to purchase ice as a luxury from New England frozen lakes. Frederic Tudor, also known as “The Ice King”, began harvesting ice in 1806. He then popularized ice in the tropics and eventually all over the nation. He advertised ice as a way to keep not only food and medicines cold, but also beverages. This was the start of America’s love of ice, and over time, technology improved until the modern freezer came about, and with it the possibility of making your own ice (not to mention ice-cream).

With this history in mind, change up the flavor and add a pop of color to your next chilly beverage with these fruity essential oil ice cubes.

From the below list of ingredients, select the fruits and essential oils that appeal to you most. Think of which beverage you will be using these ice cubes in, and it will help direct the flavors you choose.

Ingredients
Your choice of the following fruits:
1 package raspberries
1 lemon
1 lime
1 orange
1 grapefruit
1 package basil leaves
1 package mint leaves
1 package strawberries
1 small watermelon

Your choice of the following essential oils:
Lemon oil
Wild Orange oil
Lime oil
Grapefruit oil
Peppermint oil
Lavender oil
Basil oil

Instructions

Raspberry and Lemon
Orange, Lemon, and Lime

Many nut butters on the market are full of hidden sugar and hydrogenated oils. It turns out it is pretty simple to make your own!

INGREDIENTS
• 4 cups raw cashews
• 2 teaspoons extra virgin coconut oil
• 1/4 teaspoon sea salt (to taste)
• 2 drops of Madagascar vanilla

INSTRUCTIONS:
• Preheat oven to 325 F.
• In a large bowl mix the raw cashews with coconut oil,
 and salt.
• Spread evenly onto a baking sheet and toast for 10-15 minutes, or until lightly golden. Let cashews cool completely before blending.
• In a food processor or high powered blender add the toasted
cashews and essential oil.
• Process for 5-10 minutes depending on your machine.
• Scrape down the side of the bowl every few minutes for a smooth

creamy consistency.
• Transfer cashew butter into glass jar. Do not place lid on until the
butter has completely cooled (may be warm from processing).
• Store in the fridge or in the cupboard for up to 1 month.

Living by the pool all summer? Whip up this tasty and refreshing fruit dip!

You can even add in 1/4 cup cream cheese to this recipe for a more extravagant and thicker fruit dip.
Mix all the ingredients together and chill for 30 minutes. Cut up your favorite fruit, dip, and enjoy!

Pro Tip → I also like stirring this over my fruit salad for a creamy consistency with extra protein.
