Pursue What's Pure
What is purity? Is it the absence of contaminants? Something pristine, unadulterated? Or is it the way we treat others, the conditions on which we give. Is purity a love? The kind felt for a distant community as if it were a close knit family? Or is it the will to do good for no other reason than because it's good. Is it honesty, fairness, good character? One thing's for sure. Purity is not easy. The pursuit of purity requires more than just conviction. It means rejecting even the thought of cutting a corner. It means doing what's right, even when it's what's seemingly insurmountable. We are more than just an essential oils company. We're in the business of empowerment. Everything we do is designed to open opportunity. Whether it's a farmer inspired, a mother assured, an athlete emboldened, or an entrepreneur on fire. This is our mission, to empower through purity. It's why we don't just buy farms, we build farmers. It's why we don't just see in others potential. We make sure they see it themselves. It's why we turn wellness advocates into advocates of change. Through our product as well as our purpose. It's why everything we do is designed to empower others. And best of all, we're not alone. So let's pursue together. Let's pursue healthier families and happier communities, kinder interactions and stronger connections. Let's pursue understanding of common ground. Humility, empathy and charity. Let's pursue being the difference that makes all the difference. Let's pursue a smile on the face of everyone we meet and a positive impact left behind everywhere we go. Because when the pure gifts of the earth are paired with the pure love of each other, there is no telling what we can achieve. Video |

A healthy immune system works like body armor, protecting us from the threats that constantly bombard us. They’re on your hands, on the food you eat, and in the air you breathe. Like air, we don’t pay much attention to the immune system until something slips through a gap in the armor. When we feel under the weather, we suddenly realize how much depends on it.

Essential oils are extracted from plants using a variety of methods.
An essential oil has the “essential” properties of the plant.
An essential oil has the “essential” properties of the plant.

How doTERRA Essential Oils Work
Essential oils are made up of minute molecules that are very easily absorbed. Each oil has a unique chemical composition or attribute of terpenes, esters, oxides, alcohols, phenols, ketones, and aldehydes. These components interact with bodily systems, and depending on the essential oil support various systems of the body.
While not every oil will have all the attributes mentioned, it is a good bet that many of them have at least two or three within their chemical makeup.
Example: Lavender essential oil has 40% linalyl acetate (pictured above), which is an ester. Spend some time researching the properties of linalyl acetate and you’ll see that it makes sense to take advantage of these properties by using lavender essential oils for occasional sleeplessness and seasonal or environmental threats.
Essential oils have more than just their chemical composition. The integrity and handling of the oil also has an impact on its effectiveness. I am proud to say that doTERRA is the largest essential oil company in the United States and has the highest standards and superior testing to create the purest oil. Check it out further under “Why Quality Matters.”
When you smell an essential oil, receptor cells in the olfactory organ receive the aroma and send signals to the limbic system of the brain, which is the center of memory and emotion. It also is connected to areas of the brain that control blood pressure, heart rate, breathing, hormone balance, and more.
When essential oils are absorbed through the skin or lungs, they enter fluids and are distributed throughout the body, where their chemical constituents can interact with other bodily systems.
These are truly amazing oils and I encourage you to research as much.
How to Use doTERRA Essential Oils
There are 3 ways you can use doTERRA Essential Oils
Aromatic - Our sense of smell is very powerful. It is connected to the nerves in our system that send messages to the Limbic system to release certain hormones. Aromatic use is great for cleansing the environment, boosting the immune system, changing mood and emotion, and opening airways. Cool mist diffusers are the most popular, but you can also put a drop on a tissue or cotton ball and place it next to you, spray on a surface, drop in your hand and inhale, or just inhale directly from the bottle. Try putting some Peppermint oil on a cotton ball and placing on the vent of your car. It will keep you alert and your car will smell great.
Topical - DoTERRA Essential Oils can be used directly with a drop from the bottle, or diluted with a carrier oil,* then applied directly to our skin. This is great for local effects like cuts/ burns, headaches, sore muscles … It will be absorbed through our skin and into our blood stream. Many use the nerve endings used in reflexology at the bottom or our feet to apply the oils. For example, the big toe is connected to the brain, so it’s a great place to apply an oil for insomnia. Check out my blog post for some great places to apply the oils.

Use the oils topically for direct relief and immediate comfort, to maximize massage, or as a mood balancer. And it's great for circulatory and immune support.
Why You Should Put Essential Oils on Bottom of Feet
Oils Delivered Faster Through The Bottom Of Your Feet
If you apply oil on the bottom of your foot, it takes only 20 minutes for the oil to be detected in every cell of your body. This is because the pores on the sole of the foot and your legs are thicker and they act like straws sucking up the compounds fast into the bloodstream!
The soles of the feet and the palms of the hand are the only parts of our body that do not produce sebaceous glands.
Sebum is an oily compound that prevents the body from absorbing any substance. The fact that the palms and the soles do not secrete sebum shows that these areas of your body will quickly absorb oil. Make sure not to apply oil on “sweaty” feet or hands. It is very important to dry them off first. In this way, the water will not repel the essential oil.
Reflexology!
It is a known fact that every nerve line in our body ends in the feet. It is scientifically shown that each foot has 7,200 nerve endings. According to reflexology, the big toe is connected to the brain and head. The next two toes are related to the eyes, while the next two toes represent the ears. The top third of the sole is our chest while the mid third is our digestive system and stomach. As you can see, our feet represent our entire body, so it is no wonder why it is of utmost importance to apply oils to our feet!
Less Irritation And Sensitivities
Using foot application increases the safety, since this reduces the risk of skin irritation and sensitivities. The skin on the soles of the feet is known to be less sensitive compared to the skin throughout the rest of our body. This allows us to use even oregano, thyme, and citrus oil without diluting them first.
When you are applying oil on the foot, the applied oil will be bypassing the liver. This means that the oil will not accumulate there. The oil reaches the lower bronchial capillaries through the circulatory system and the whole organism, instead of being processed by the liver.

Internal - When you use an essential oil, make sure you look at the label. If there are supplement facts, you know it can be taken internally. I have seen many oils on the market that should be okay to take internally, like Lemon oil for example, that say 100% pure, but then it says Do Not Take Internally. That is an immediate red flag. DoTERRA will have listed on every bottle whether it is recommended for Aromatic, Topical, or Dietary use. When you do use oils internally, you can either place a drop under your tongue, put it in a little water, or on a drop of honey, or you can use empty veggie caps and create your own. I use this quite often when I don’t like the taste of oil but I want the immediate effect of taking it internally. Some oils are also considered hot oils, like Cinnamon or Clove. Another hot oil is Oregano which is great when trying to fight off a cold. This is a great way to get those oils directly into your system without the discomfort of the hotness and taste. Internal use has a rapid effect because it hits the blood stream quickly. It a great choice for using in connection with the dietary system and cleansing, mouth, throat and organ issues, and weight and blood sugar management. I use Lemon in my water. Great hydration and antioxidant protection in one.
